Minor Protection Terms

1. Overview

Lights of Africa is committed to the safety and well-being of all minors (persons under 18 years of age) who participate in or access the Platform. These terms outline our protective measures and responsibilities.

2. Age Requirements

  • Minimum age for Platform access: 13 years old.
  • Minimum age for contest registration: 16 years old (with guardian consent).
  • Parental/guardian consent: Required for all users and contestants under 18.

3. Guardian Consent Requirements

For contestants under 18, the following is mandatory:

  • Full name and contact details of parent or legal guardian.
  • Guardian phone number for verification.
  • Written parent/guardian consent on the registration form.
  • Guardian co-signature on the consent and agreement section.

4. Content Protections

  • Live streaming access is restricted for users under 13.
  • Minors aged 13-17 are restricted from live streaming between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM (UTC).
  • All user-generated comments are subject to moderation.
  • Automated content flagging detects inappropriate language.

5. Data Protections for Minors

  • We collect minimal personal data necessary for competition participation.
  • Guardian contact information is stored alongside the minor's data.
  • Minor's data is accessible only to authorized administrators.
  • Guardians may request access to or deletion of their minor's data at any time.

6. Performance and Broadcast

  • Minors performing in the competition will have on-site welfare officers present.
  • Performance hours comply with local labor and child protection regulations.
  • Image and footage usage requires explicit guardian consent.
